Finding my brushes
It comes together slowly for me.
Last march when those in the know were busy becoming HicEtNunc OG’s, I thought it would be cool to launch a tshirt line (child of the 70’s that I am).
It was the coldest spring I can remember and we sold about 9. Big ups to those who arrived early for ruralidyll apparel 👕
I have continued drawing this motif, over and over. Its all I draw now really, and there’s a comfort in that. By reflexively inking a familiar pattern and not really overly worrying about “what to draw”, it has changed my self loathing relationship with my work, and come to be something other.
This little rocky outcrop teeming with life, surrounded by birds, balanced amidst nothing, means just about everything.
I’ve tinkered at animating these for a year and been playing in c4d, blender, all that jazz.
This weekend felt like a breakthrough: all digital, all handdrawn - a full circle of sorts for my inky island home from home.
Feels like I finally found my brushes 🖌
