New Fangled Twitter
Beyond the noise and explainer threads and photos of bank balances and whatever other nonsense, the deeper I go the more I perceive this as genuine folk art; outside of any cohesive movement, without coordinated intention, artefacts are being created and shared in varying degrees of isolation by artists across the globe.
Mid 2020 I had stopped using Twitter; a noxious place, fuelled by unhealthy, binary arguments and gnomic toxicity. I deleted my account, intending never to return.
Now, a little over eighteen months and various shades of pandemic later, my admittedly more curated timeline is filled with the brightest hues of every colour.
On a daily basis I am deeply inspired and supported by artists from every corner.
I don’t want to be a maxi, or an evangelist, or God forbid, another white guy explainer thread, but if you can navigate through all the capitalist delirium it feels like true expression here, the very soul of the world.
